"Osteopathy is in the blood"

1st December 2024 by Maxwell Fraval

Introduction

ree

Bapak constantly referred to the heart as part of our makeup and nature, but in the west this has largely been merged with 'the mind'. Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, the founder of Osteopathy,  saw the heart as the “mother of all” that imparts knowledge to the blood to enable it to do its work. This presentation investigates the heart and vasculature, the fluid dynamics of the blood and the imprinting of the heart’s code on the blood. We consider the heart as more than a pump and explore the concept of the heart as a hydrodynamic and electromagnetic generator, qualities which are then imparted to the blood. In December my book Osteopathy is in the blood will be published and will cover this in more detail.

About Maxwell Fraval

ree

A career change brought me to osteopathy and I have been on a continuing journey of discovery into the benefits of osteopathic treatment ever since. It was through treating my baby son who had projectile vomiting that I became aware of the effectiveness of osteopathic care of babies and children. The osteopathic

care of babies and children is for me an ongoing source of wonder at the strength of the response that can be achieved with these patients.

I trained at the British School of Osteopathy (now the University College of Osteopathy) and subsequently joined its Board of Governors. I also served on the board of the General Council of Registered Osteopaths (now the General Osteopathic council).

I began teaching undergraduates in the UK in 1979 and in 1985 I joined the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) as a part-time lecturer. RMIT was the First University in Australia to run an osteopathic degree course. In 1993, I pioneered the First Osteopathic Pediatrics degree in Australia leading to a

Master’s degree at RMIT. The Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation of Australia and New Zealand, of which I am a founding member, was established in 1990 as a vehicle for teaching post graduate courses. Since 2001 I have taught 'Rule of the Artery' courses in Australia, NZ, USA, UK and several European countries
